Housekeeping staff is available Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday, 9:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. to clean and maintain the residence hall. To ensure a comfortable and healthy living environment, the housekeeping staff performs the following tasks:
- Cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms and fixtures
- Surface cleaning bathrooms
- Cleaning and disinfecting showers
- Removing common area trash and recycling material
- Sweeping and vacuuming lobby areas and hallways
- Cleaning lobby areas
- Repairing and maintaining building system components (as needed)
- Performing other duties as necessary
Each student is responsible for the condition of their residence room, furnishings, and any damages or losses that may occur during occupancy. Students should do all they can to avoid adding to the workload of our busy housekeeping staff. When staff have to do additional cleaning, they have less time for their routine tasks that are in place to meet established cleaning standards.
Do your part to help keep the residence halls clean:
- Dispose of trash in designated areas, making sure everything goes in—not around—the containers. Do not put personal trash in bathroom or lobby receptacles.
- Sort recyclable material by following the instructions on the receptacles.
- Clean up after yourself. If you make a mess, it's your responsibility to clean it up.
- Put what you sweep from your room in the trash can, not the hall.
- Clean your room regularly.
- Never put food down the bathroom sinks.
Vacuum cleaners are available for student use. See your RA for information.
WiFi is available via secured Enterprise wireless networks. Information on how to use the wireless network is available from ResCom.

Incoming mail must be addressed properly, using the following format:
Penn State Greater Allegheny
4050 University Drive
McKeesport PA 15132
Each residential student is assigned a mailbox to share with their roommate. Mailbox numbers do not correspond with the student's residence hall/room number. Mailbox numbers will be provided at check-in, along with mailbox combinations. Students who move to a different residence hall room will be assigned to another mailbox. Mail is placed in student mailboxes daily, Monday through Friday. Mailboxes are located in the Student Community Center, outside the Housing and Food Services Office.
If you get a package that doesn't fit in your mailbox, you'll receive an email saying that a package is waiting for you. You can pick up your package at the Housing and Food Services office during the times indicated in the email. You'll need to show your Penn State id+ card to claim your package.
The student is responsible for updating his or her permanent address in LionPATH to ensure that all mail and packages received after the student has checked out of University housing can be forwarded. Mail and packages that cannot be forwarded will be returned to sender.
Newspapers are available Monday through Friday at convenient locations throughout campus. National favorites USA Today and the New York Times are provided by the Newspaper Readership Program as well as the local newspaper, The Pittsburgh Post Gazette. Report any problems with the newspaper machine to Student Affairs in person or via email.
If you want to have a vehicle on campus you'll need to register and pay the fee for a parking permit with Campus Police, located in the Frable Building.
Penn State has taken proactive measures to reduce waste and protect the environment. The residence areas have been leaders in Penn State's recycling movement, and all residents are encouraged to participate. Convenient recycling containers are located throughout campus. Cardboard, office paper, aluminum cans, and plastic are recycled.
Cable television service is provided in common areas only; students can connect to streaming platforms using smart devices connected through roomgear.
